Lead Pastor
Pastor Curtis Holmes
Curtis Holmes was born on December 23,1973. He grew up in West Point, Mississpi under the watchful eyes of his adopted parents, Reverened Nathaniel and Marcie Holmes. At the age of 9, Pastor Holmes accepted Christ and was baptized at Good Hope Missionary Bapitst Church in Pheba, Mississpi under the late Reverend R. Cockrell. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Mantee, Mississipi. Pastor Curtis Holmes met Elizabeth Brynum from New York in Houston, Mississpi and married her on September 7, 1996. From this beautiful union, Pastor and First Lady Holmes welcomed two children, Princess and Cortez, who are currently both serving in the military.

Before Pastor Holmes became a Minister, he served as Deacon Holmes for 10 years. In 2004, Pastor and First Lady Holmes, took a leap of faith and moved to Warner Robins, Georgia. They had no relatives that they knew of in the area and didn't know a lot about the city. In 2009, they joined First Baptist Chruch where at the time, Minisiter Holmes was active in his Sunday School classes, and was later prompoted to being a teacher of the New Members Class. Through his dedication to his faith, Pastor Holmes answered the call to preach his 1st sermon on January 26, 2014. From that moment, Pastor Holmes worked to receive his license to preach, which he went on to recieve from Pastor Kirvin. Pastor Curtis Holmes has recevied his Associates Degree in Industrial Maitentance from Central Georgia Techincal College. He is currently working on his Bachelor's Degree at Luther Rice Theological Seminary and College. He has co-authored a book titled, "I Am A Black Man, Ascension of the Kings." He continues to purse those things of Christ to serve God's people.Â
Our Heritage
Smithville Baptist ChurchÂ
The Church was organized in November 1988 with a few members who faithfully assembled themselves under a brush arbor south of Centerville, Georgia once a week to worship the Lord. Under the leadership of Pastor Dolphus Watkins, the church was later named Smithville as a tribute to the Smith family. It served as a schoolhouse as well, in which our oldest member, Ms. Janie Mae Toliver attended. Mr. George Smith had donated two acres of land to the church and in the early 1940's a brick structure was built. Some of the wood was salvaged from the old church to build the pulpit and other woodworking in the new church.

Smithville Baptist Church has had many deacons, trustees, mothers, ushers, and laymen under the leadership of various pastors, such as Pastor Dolphus Watkins, Pastor J.S. Street, Pasto W.M. Goolsby, Pastor E.O. Bivins, Pastor Warren, Pastor Ross, Pastor J.W. Cummings, and Pastor Charlie Lee Blackmon.Â

Pastor Cummings was a strong leader and the church doubled in size with people traveling for miles to attend services held second and forth Sundays. He served faithfully until his death in 1981.

Pastor Blackmon served faithfully for 39 years adding membership and updating the existing structure. Smithville became a full-time worshipping experience with Sunday School, Worship Service every Sunday and Wednesday night Bible Study.Â

After the loss of Pastor Charlie Lee Blackmon, Reverend Curtis J. Holmes was given the assignment as Pastor of this great church on September 5,2021, Smithville Baptist Church family is now enjoying our new modern remodeled sanctuary as of September 2025, Social Media Platforms, full functioning website, the Sick and Shut In Ministry, Reading with A Bright Future Program, and Feeding Others for Tomorrows Growth Program has been established under his leadership.
